How does Hypnotherapy Work ?

One of the questions most Clients ask is ” How does Hypnotherapy Work ? ”
Firstly, hypnosis is a natural state of mind, enhanced by mental and physical relaxation, in which our subconscious mind is able to communicate more effectively with our conscious mind.
Hypnotherapy is a combination of hypnosis and therapy.
A Hypnotherapy Session
Typically, a Hypnotherapist will spend about a third of the session talking to the client in normal waking consciousness. The remainder of the time, the client will be guided into a pleasant hypnotic trance and then therapeutic suggestions are given to the subconscious mind which is so much more receptive to making change in the hypnotic state.
Hypnotherapy works in a gentle yet powerful way and helps people to become more accepting both of themselves and others. These hypnotic techniques can be very helpful in promoting personal development and unlocking inner potential.
What is Hypnosis like?
Hypnosis is generally a very relaxing and stress reducing experience in of itself and is a natural state of mind that is experienced as part of everyday life. However, it is the therapeutic techniques used, in conjunction with hypnotic trance, that are fundamental to the solution of the Clients’ issues. The aim of all such therapy is to assist people in finding meaningful alternatives to their present unhelpful ways of thinking, feeling or behaving.
At the Hypnotherapy Centre in Windsor we utilise mainly Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioural approaches to facilitate change.
- Solution Focused therapy is based on solution-building rather than problem-solving. It explores current resources and future hopes and goals rather than present problems and past causes.
- Cognitive Behavioural therapy means we assist clients to change the behaviours that maintain their problems and reassess unhelpful or limiting beliefs.
We generally recommend an initial 90 minute session so that your specific issues can be discussed and therapy tailored to your needs. Any questions you may have can be answered enabling you to feel relaxed and comfortable prior to hypnotic trance. Subsequent sessions are usually scheduled for 60 minutes.
